Stuart Named to U.S. National Team

Former Colorado College defenseman Mark Stuart, who played all 89 games this season for the Boston Bruins, was named to the U.S. national team roster for the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship, USA Hockey announced Thursday. The tournament takes place May 2-18 in Nova Scotia and Quebec City, Quebec.

Stuart, a product of the U.S. national team development program (2000-02), captained to the U.S. under-18 national team to its first-ever gold at the IIHF World under-18 Championship in 2002 and repeated the success as captain in the 2004 World Junior Championship.

Also, New York Islanders pro scout Toby O'Brien said newly signed defenseman Jack Hillen went from "level 1 to level 9" while at Colorado College.

good updates - I was glad to see Stuart had a good year with the B's.

Not sure, George. I think that Jack will likely start with the AHL club, but will make the the most of his two-way contract once he's gained a bit of professional experience. The reaction to him has been positive by both Islanders management and fans: they like what they've seen.

hillen is impressive both on and off the ice. i did not realize was a great skater he was until this past season. every time i had the chance to speak with him his demeanor was that of somebody much older; very mature and calm. my son and i will be keeping up with the isles, hoping he can crack the lineup next year.

thanks for the updates.
